Smelling the Roses - Karen L. Schwartz - with Renee Richman - 9781934237199
Karen Schwartz presents a lively, readable, and supportive book of readings to help readers transform their emotional and spiritual lives and increase their faith. Readers will find in this book many ways to connect to spirituality and the religious life, such as hearing Paul's words in Philippians 2:5-11, reflecting on how we respond to our troubled inner world, and embracing the beauty of our spiritual gifts.
Karen Schwartz has been a pastoral associate at the Sisters of St. Joseph and at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN, and she has been on the faculty of St. Catherine University since 2003. She also teaches public relations at the University of St. Thomas, where she has served on the faculty since 1996. She was the moderator of the advisory council for St. Paul's Institute for Contemporary Ministries and is also an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
Karen Schwartz has been teaching and writing about spirituality for more than 10 years. She is a life-long learner, and her passion is to inspire readers to deepen their spirituality and to find the light in the darkness, wherever they live, whatever their faith tradition, or none at all. She is the author of Smelling the Roses: Finding the Light in the Dark Places (InterVarsity Press, 2008), It's All About God: Seeking God in a Secular World (InterVarsity Press, 2007), and Pilgrim Daughter: The Power of a Woman's Journey (Hope House, 1996).
